You will base your project off an element off the periodic table. To introduce you to the essence of the periodic table, you will be reading Sam Kean's "The Disappearing Spoon" and learn about the story of the periodic table almost entirely in terms of material oddity, instructive folly, elemental greed and partisan obsession.
Throughout the book, you will blog and discuss different topics in the book. Each blog will be focused toward specific prompts. After the reading, you should be comfortable discussing:

As you read The Disappearing Spoon, you will engage with the text through blogging. For each section listed below, choose one of the blog prompts and write an entry of at least 250 words. Part of what's great about a blog is the discussions it begins. So, in addition to your own blog, you will also be asked to write comments on at least two other student blogs; one from a biology student and one from a chemistry student for each section. Each comment should be at least 100 words and should show that you are being thoughtful about what the blogger has written. |

You may work together and collaborate with a Biology student for this art piece.
The art can be as creative as you want, however, needs to show why YOU care about science. Why is the discovery of the elements essential? How can you make people care?? It will be challenging to grade creative art pieces, however, it will be very easy to grade effort. Keep that in mind when creating your masterpieces! Interesting Final Product Ideas:
